Brake Issues and ABS Sensor Issues
This is another issue that has been very perculiar to the 2010 models of Toyota Venza. Owners of this car reported that the brakes failed to hold up after being applied. One customer said and i quote,
" When the brakes are initially applied, the car will stop, however, after a few seconds the brakes would release on it’s own and the car would continue to move. I would have to continuously pump the brakes to get the car to stop. While sitting at a stop sign or stop light the car will stop for more than a few seconds, the brakes would release on its own. I would once again have to continuously pump the brakes until I was able to drive."
This braking issue is always accompanied by erratic ABS lights and signals which usually suggestd that car has a possible ABS issue. This situation could be traced down to factory issues with the contact-type stop lamp switch which was compromised by grease.
Toyota Venza was discontinued in 2015

Uncontrolled Acceleration and Speed Problems
This has been a serious issue reported by owners of 2010 models of Toyota Venza. The car tends to accelerate on its own way out of control, putting the driver and other road users at risk. Toyota said the issue was as a result of accelerator pedal getting stuck after being trapped by an unsecured Floor Mat. A 2010 Venza owner reported the following,
" I was pulling into a parking space very slowly...my foot was on the gas pedal very gently and all of a sudden the car accelerated at a fast speed. I hit the brick wall of a store and smashed the glass front door. Under no circumstances did I depress the gas pedal in excess to cause it to accelerate. As I was pulling into the spot the engine did start to make a revving up sound. The parking spot was only approximately 10 feet from front of building. I quickly applied the brakes before impact but did not stop. The impact of the car on the wall stopped the car. Thank god there were no injuries "
This issue lead to Toyota placing a recall order on 2010 Venza and some other models totalling about 3.8 million around the globe.
Remedy
- Toyota has advised that two possible remedies to this problem, besides having them returned to Toyota who would fix it at no cost to the owner. The first remedy is to have the pedals modified to fit or have it replaced completely, while the second option is to have the Floor surface modified to fit the pedal.
Other Issues
Toyota themselves reported some possible issues that may come up in this car and even had these cars recalled to have they issues fixed. Some of these issues include;
Faulty and malfunctioning front airbags due to the cars sensing system being out of calibration. This issue could result in no deployment or inappropriate deployment of the front airbags.
High Risk of fire incident resulting from seat heating systems which may be compromised as a result of the weight of the passengers. Toyota have had this heating system completely removed at no cost to the customers while refunding this lost value, just to prevent possible short-circuiting occurring.
